Python

This class was focusing on Coding. First, we did some activity and get to know what is coding? After that, we were introduced to Python. We learn about how Python work. And how to run it. We use Code academy to practice and use the code board to do exercise and homework. Sometimes we have a quiz about it and we did a lot of reviews to make us understand better. Sometimes Python gets very confusing and I always get confused with it. It can always get a mistake even you miss one letter But it a great code language to started and learn.

Carbon

Stem this round is fun. We have a new topic which is called Carbon. Carbon has three types. There are Diamond, Graphite and Fullerence. We also have a schedule for each day of the week of what we will doing. For Monday we usually have an independence reading which we read the article about the topic in Ck12 and write all the question that we have and also vocabulary down. For Tuesday we usually have a discussion about what we understand about the topic and also ask the question that we note from Monday to the teacher.  Thursday we usually learn together like watching a video and also listen to the teacher to explain and do an experiment if we have. And Friday is Review day we did Kahoot to help review what we learn in the week.

Wonder

For the new round of Literacy, we strongly focused on Reading Skill. So sometimes we review all the lesson that we learn and connect to reading skill. We also started a new Group reading that we called a Novel Study. In this activity, we have four books that the student needs to choose. One book has about 4 to 5 people. all of this book was about bullying. The books are about 200 to 300 page long. There are Wonder, Monster, Outsider and Looking for Alaska. I Choose to read Wonder. Wonder was talking about The inspiring and Story about one boy name August Pullman. So to finish the book our teacher have a Schedule for how many pages do we need to read a day or a week. After a week we need to have a group discussion that we need to have a role like Symbolizer, Visualizer, Inference, WD ( word detective ) and summarizer. We need to do the discussion every week.

Fraction And Decimal

In math, we just started a new math book which is 5B. The 5B book has a lot of work and new thing to learn but in this round, we mainly focused on Fraction and Decimal. We learn about how to converted Fraction to Decimal From Decimal to Fraction. At the end of the week, we have some fun Activity to do with all the lesson that we learn the hold week. We also use Khan Academy to help learn it too. We have a Celebrating of Knowledge which we review about all the thing that we learn since past and now. We use Quizizz and Kahoot to review it too and we have a lot of fun with all the lesson that we learn.

 

Outdoor Leadership

The third exploration of this year is Outdoor leadership. Outdoor leadership has taught me more about the outside world and nature. Before, when I heard or saw the word forest it felt like the forest was so scary and dangerous for me. When I saw animals, especially crickets, snakes, or birds, I either told my dad to kill it or I tried to kill it. But outdoor leadership taught me that all of those animals and things are also natural, they also want to live. They won’t hurt you if you don’t hurt them. That makes me sad, knowing all of the bad things that I did to nature. Now when I see an animal, I walk off. I’m not going to hurt them if they are not going to hurt me. And that is just a very good way to think and know. Outdoor leadership taught me that life is hard. If you just sit in the house and wait for rice to cook with all the electricity and a lighter. You will never know how life is hard. After all 7 weeks in this exploration, I feel like outdoor leadership means life without any stuff and supplies around you and how can you live without it. People right now live with nearly everything done for them. A lot of people, when they want food,they just go online or to the store to buy it. If they want rice, they go to the market and buy it or just put rice inside the automatic rice cooker and it cooks!! But they don’t know how hard is it to find one of the ingredients of the food. They don’t know where to find it. One more thought is to explore the beauty of nature. When you look at nature at the outside, it looks so scary, dangerous, and afraid. But when you go into it, explore it, learn about it you will see how beautiful nature is. After this exploration, I feel like I got to know more things in nature. I also learned how to help when there are people injured in the woods and I feel like if there is a time when this kind of problem happens, I can help them and guide other people to help too. All of the helping skills, making shelter, learning to survive in the woods, and walking a lot of kilometers through the woods makes me an outdoor leader.The first thing that I will do to share my knowledge with others to help protect natural spaces in Cambodia is to start with the people near me. It can be my family, my friend, every person around me and when they learn it and know it from me, they will tell their family and their friends too. It will continue and it is a great way to Started with. Because no one will listen to you if they don’t know you, so you need to teach the people around you first and then people that are your friends might also know people that you don’t know, and friends of your friends might also know someone that you and your friends don’t know. One more way is social media; you can share it on Facebook, you can share it with Youtube, you can share it on websites and people can check it out and learn it.. But it all started with the people next to you and the people that you know.

Digital StoryTelling

This is the second round of Technology Multimedia. In this round, we mainly focused on Digital Storytelling and camera skill. Digital storytelling is a storytelling that people use the digital thing to tell. We also learn about story structure how to tell the story in order. By nearly the end of the round, we got to learn about the camera. I really interesting about the camera and how it works. It looks so difficult to understand but When I learn about it I kind of understand more about it. One more thing that we learn in this round is Adobe Illustrator. We use Adobe Illustrator to design the logo or graphics. We got to play around with it and do some editing with it.

Traditional Food

Traditional food is the second exploration this year. Our goal is to learn about the type of traditional food and ingredient to document for our next generation to know about our traditional food. In this exploration, we mainly focusing to make a product such as a Video, journalism, and photo. To make all the product finish by seven-week we need to divide into this three group so I am in the photo group. My goal is to take a lot of pictures to make a photo essay about all the places and food that we went too. In the third week, we got to go to Siem Reap to learn the traditional food from the restaurant. They are Mahob, Cousin Wat Dammnak, and Sugar palm. We went to all of this restaurant and do a lot of interviews to get more information about the food. When we come back we started to take all the information to make our product and these are all the product that we make:

Geometry

This round in math we were learning about a new topic called Geometry!!! In geometry, we were mostly focusing on Area and perimeter of Rectangle and Triangle. Two to three week we will have one test to let the teacher know if we catch up. In the class, we also did some art and teamwork to solve the word problem and exercise. We are having so much fun with the problem and usually, we will have fun activities or Quizizz at the end of the week to review what we have learned in the week.

Environmental Justice

Another interesting topic happens in English Literacy. In this round, we were learning about Social Environmental Justice. Environmental Justice is an idea that every person should involve in a decision about what happened in the environment. In this topic, we got to have a discussion a lot with our friend and teacher to know more about this topic. We also doing research about an injustice living near the wast landfill. We have four cities to research it Which is

  1. Guwahati, India,
  2. Payatas, Philippines
  3.  Addis Abeba, Ethiopia,
  4. and Mombasa, Kenya. I got to research about Payatas, Philippines and it was so hard to see all the people that live near the landfill and all of the wast. At the end of this round, we got to have a philosophical chair discussion about “ the school should stop the practice of giving the letter grades to students. Instead. They should only give the written feedback ” Philosophical chair is similar to debate and Students are given a central topic or question that they must choose to agree or disagree. In this topic, I choose to disagree and we have a full hour to discuss this topic.

KolabPailin

In this round in Khmer class, we were learning about one famous story in Cambodia that called “ Kolab Pailin ”. This story was written by Nhok Them in 1936. It’s a romantic story and also talking about a life in French Colonial administration. This story is talking about one person name Chao Chet a man who travels from Sangke district to Pailin district in Battambang province which was on the Kingdom’s western border to work as a gold miner. Chao Chet has lost his family but he never gives up. He moves from his parents’ hometown and asks a man, [Loung] Ratanak if he can live with him. Chao Chet is poor He works hard but always respecting his boss. All his words come from the bottom of his heart. The book gives the reader an understanding of what relationships between young men and women were like in those years. I really really like this story and it was so inspiring for me.
